EMBRYO TESTING

WE TEST FOR GENERAL CHROMOSOMAL ABNORMALITIES, AND FOR SPECIFIC INHERITED DISORDERS

We offer both Pre-implantation Genetic Screening (PGS) to screen the embryo for general abnormalities in the number of chromosomes, as well as Pre-implantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD), which is commonly used when a couple wants to diagnose or screen for a specific inherited disorder.

Abnormalities in chromosome number can lead to failed IVF cycles, miscarriages and/or birth defects. PGS substantially reduces the possibility of discovering a serious genetic abnormality during pregnancy, and having to face the consequent difficult decision of whether or not to carry the pregnancy to term.

If you are a woman with the following risk factors present, we suggest you consider PGS:

  • If you are older than 35.
  • If you have a history if miscarriages.
  • If you have experienced previously failed fertility treatments.

Why choose PGD?
This test, used to screen for specific genetic disorders in IVF embryos before transfer and subsequent implantation, could be the difference between passing on a life-threatening disease and giving your child its best chance at a full and healthy life.

If the following risk factors are present, we suggest you consider PGD:

  • There is a family history of hereditary genetic disorders.
  • When chromosomal abnormalities are present in (or carried by) one or both parents.
